Top 10 things to do on Halloween

Halloween is a holiday where you -not only- get chocolate and candy but also contemplate whether that clown is a prop or the real deal. It's also a holiday that makes teenagers doubt how brave they are when they compare themselves with 3 year olds who gladly walk into a haunted house! Jokes aside, Halloween is a time where people have fun while also get terrified! Here are my top 10 favorite things to do on Halloween!

1) Trick or treat

For...obvious reasons... trick or treating is must do on Halloween. It's a tradition to go around to peoples houses and demand for candy apparently. For trick or treating, it's important to bring at least 2 big bags to fill up because I bet you'll find someone who gives out handfuls of candy at a time.

2) Make a custom trick or treating bag

To customize your Halloween experience, make some custom trick or treating bags! This craft is great for creative kids and doesn't need to be messy or expensive. Any paper bag will do. Any medium of color will do. If you have older kids, try cutting out Halloween themed figures into the paper bag. After cutting it out, add a clear sheet of cling wrap inside to make sure the candy doesn't fall out of those holes. To project your cutout, add lights inside your trick or treating bag and show off your craft skills!

3) Trade candy

After trick or treating with friends, go to someone's house and dump out everyone's candy. Make sure to keep the candy in clusters according to the person who got that candy. If one person loves a certain candy, let's say Twix, and the other two people don't like Twix, give over all the Twix to that person. Let's say that the person got 5 extra Twix candies from each person. That person needs to ask the other two which candy they like. Let's say both of them like Kit Kat. However many Twix they took from the other people, she needs to repay with Kit Kats. Once your done trading, you get candy that you like and you friends get candy that they like!

4) Make a prop for your costume

Costumes vary but there's a prop for all of them. Here are some examples: For a vampire costume, make some fake vampire fangs! For an alien costume, make some anteni with pipe cleaners! For a superhero character, make the superhero's weapon(s)! The point is, there's a prop for every costume!

5) Paint or Carve Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins is another one of the most common Halloween traditions, but have you ever heard of painting pumpkins? Painting pumpkins is arguably much easier than carving pumpkins. Not to mention how mess free it is to paint a pumpkin compared to carving a pumpkin.

6) Host a Horror Movie night

Horror is a genre of suspense. One that terrifies and fascinates. Why not watch a horror movie on Halloween if your not planning on having good dreams that night! You can even theme your movie night by making decorations!

7) Do some Halloween makeup

Halloween makeup is by far the easiest type of makeup to do. That's because all you have to do is smear some eyeliner over your face. The thing is, the messier, the scarier! Halloween makeup is also a fun way to use bold colors!

8) Do a Halloween photoshoot

One you're done with makeup, it's time for photos! Photoshoots aren't the best things to do with children that can't stay still, but this one's for all of the adults and teens out there! I recommend making or buying a backdrop.

9) Make a Halloween wreath

If you're a person for pretty door decorations instead of Halloween props, wreaths are the things you want to put up. Wreaths are simple enough to make and fully customizable. A couple fake flowers, real pinecones, leaves, and some painted ornaments make a stunning piece for your door.

10) Make Candy Apples

Candy Apples are a common food you can see people eating at Halloween parties. Candy Apples are simply apples with Carmel on top. You can even add some personal touch by adding spices like cinnamon, or toppings like cookies, crushed peanuts, or sprinkles!

Halloween is a great holiday to celebrate weather it's trick or treating or staying at home doing a photoshoot! Hopefully this post sparked some interest to do some of these things next (or this) Halloween!
